I haven't shown this to my Mom yet, I thought that I would share it here first and see if it is good enough

~*Mom, I Only Wish You Knew*~

I only wish you knew...
How nice it was to have somewhere to go after nightmares,
or to have someone to listen to me when I really didn't have much to say

I only wish you knew...
How reassuring you were when you wiped my tears, hugged me and kissed my cheek, telling me that the "scary" lightening outside my window, was only God moving His furniture in Heaven and that the rain was His tears of joy because I was alive in this world

I only wish you knew...
How much I loved it when you went bike riding with me, skipped and played games with me and when you sat on the floor and played Barbies with me, although you were very tired because you worked all day

I only wish you knew...
How much it meant to me when you made sure that my clothes were cleaned and ironed before the "big" event, even though I waited until the last minute to tell you that I needed them

I only wish you knew...
How much it meant to me when you let me take the car out for a night on the town, even though you stayed awake the whole time listening for me to pull into the driveway at 4 am

I only wish you knew...
How much I appreciate all the nice things that you bought me, so that I could be "cool,"
even though you had much more important things to spend money on,
and how I now realize that you sacrificed buying yourself anything new, just so I could be happy,
and you did make me so very happy

I only wish you knew...
How good it was to hear your voice on the phone when I called from a party late at night, for you to pick my friends and I up, even though you were just falling asleep

I only wish you knew...
How much it meant to me that you allowed me to cancel our plans at the last minute so that I could go on a date or go out with my friends,
although you stayed home...alone,
I realize now that you were my truest friend of all

I only wish you knew...
That although our life with my father was agony,
I am glad that I had you to hold my hand through it
and tell me that everything was going to be alright,
believe me, I know the truth,
he stole my spirit away from me,
but, you gave it back to me,
you swallowed my tears, digested my pain and your own,
you gave me wings, and now I soar
because you believed in me.
I am very proud of you,
and of your achievements,
you still worked hard to achieve your dreams and make a difference,
you still stood tall
especially when no one believed in you,
you are the strongest, most loving and amazing person I know

I only wish you knew...
How much I love you, respect and adore you,
even though I don't always show it

I only hope that when I am your age,
I am as beautiful, as intelligent and as successful as you are.
You never cease to amaze me,
you have set an example of what a Mother and a woman should be like,
you are the greatest poet of all time,
whose words are your love, gentleness and dedication,
you are the most beautiful person, inside and out, who has ever graced this earth - there will never be anyone like you

Mom, my friend, my hero, I only wish you knew that I do remember everything that you have ever done for me,
and I thank you so much,
more than words can express

Good enough ?
This is perfect!
Wonderful!
Magnificent!
Special and sweet!
I can't find the words to tell you how great this is.
Give it to your mom...
she will burst with pride and happiness.

I am happy that you both have that love and connection. Congrats!

Oh, Melissa~
What a beautiful daughter you are.
Your mother will be ecstatic !
She will know that all her love and caring was so tenderly appreciated.
It's so wonderful to have a parent that loves you like no one will ever love you.
I happen to think she's done a spectacular job ... and you can tell her so for me !!
Lots of admiration I have for your loving spirit ... you make 'happy' a nice place to be.
Love ya'

Mellisa dear....you should have warned us that we'd
need a box of Kleenex before we read this!
This is absolutely beautiful!!!
I hope that she is able to read it here so she can
see that you've told the enitre world how you feel!
Excellent Mellisa!

Melissa

If you print out this poem and give it to your mother, be sure you use acid free paper, because your mother is going to keep this poem for the rest of her life, and she will need it on paper that can last a lifetime.  You wonder if it is good enough?  If you were your mother, would you want even a single word changed?  I think not.  This is an incredible tribute.
