~On Unfurled Wings Of Memory~

The prom
Graduation
  School things
   Friends coming over
    Dates
     Friendship rings

Talks on the phone
Rides in a car
  Discoveries
   Memories
     Sneaking to a bar

Campfires on the beach
A blanket for love
  Making dreams come true
   Counting stars above

Wanting
Planning
  Seeking a way
   To have
    Keepsakes
     And treasures
      For another day

Pleasures to build on
Memories to hold
  Such very special times
   So young and so bold

I never went to my prom/or debs as we call them in Ireland. I am a bit quiet when I younger but I found myself in college,

wow written at 14 years of age, again wow. That was excellent, I really enjoyed it, the flow of words, images. a great poem.

"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? "
Douglas Adams.

Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky

"You have your very own number
They dress your cage in its nature
Once you roared now you just grunt lame
Pace around pathetic pound games

Wanna get out won't miss you sensaround
To carry your own dead to swing your tyre tricks
Wanna get out here you're bred dead quick
For the outside,
The small black flowers that grow in the sky

They drag sticks along your walls
Harvest your ovaries dead mothers crawl
Here comes warden, Christ, temple, elder
Environment not yours you see through it all

Wanna get out won't miss you sensaround
To carry your own dead to swing your tyre tricks
Wanna get out here you're bred dead quick
For the outside,
The small black flowers that grow in the sky

Here chewing your tail is joy"

Thanks Brian,
I never got to go to my prom either.I had to drop out of School shortly before this was written and I wasn't able to return for many years. I am glad you enjoyed my words and feelings.
(Oh, I was very quiet also and it all came out in poetry.)

Thanks again,
MBlue

Wow~
I just graduated last Friday and I went to my senior and junior prom.  I could never imagine actually having to leave it all, but you know we grow and your poem is write it's amazing to see that although you may have had to drop out we share the same feelings.  Congratulations in finding yourself in poetry, I, too, found myself the same way.  Thank you for sharing your poem.  It's quite true.  Good luck in your next writing and I look forward to reading it   .
