Ache at 4 AM
Amy M. Kennedy

It's 4 AM and there's such an ache in my heart
Tears slide down my lashes onto my face
Lonliness surrounds me due to our being apart
Missing you so much, trying to hold on with some grace

I can hear the rain, the thundering, and lightning
Holding my arms out, wishing you were here
This feeling is so scary and frightning
And slowly from my eye, falls another tear

My heart feels empty, you should be with me
But for reasons neither of us can control I'm here and you're there
Heart feeling heavy, tears blur my vision, I can barely breathe or see
I know you miss me just as much, even though you're not here...I can feel your stare

You are my true love, and I will never let you go
Somehow we will find a way to be together
I toss and turn but I can't sleep
When I finally am in your arms, I'll hold on forever

Sweetheart I love you!

Four a.m. is the hardest time of the night to be awake and lonely..too early to get up and too late to go back to sleep...

Fabulously done. i relate a lot to this, even though it'sbeen a while since i've wanted to feel that way for a person. this was really well written, and the insomnia truly seeps through the lines. i dig it.

oh, and i always have trouble at three am... but never four. hmmm... i don't know. Because PoetDevine has an interesting point.
whatever
