Seven

If her phone rings at seven
will she be be at home waiting patiently?
And will she be hoping and praying that it should be no one else but me?
If it isn't would her heart feel a little despair.
And if it is will she go ahead and tell me just how much she cares.
Cause I'm patiently sitting alone over here and seven is extremely near.
I still have enough time to ponder each and every word that I might say
if only I could know for sure both of our hearts feel exactly the same way.

I'd start with "I miss you Sweetheart.
I Love your precious smile.
I want to hold you close again
just for a little while.
Did I tell you that your beautiful voice chases all my blues away and brightens up a lonely day.
And hon, my lips sure would appreciate one more kiss
from your warm and silky lips."

Oh please God I hope she won't just say
"Hello hon, how was your day?"
Cause before I dare to reveal
all these feelings my heart yearns to share.
I sincerely hope she will tell me how much she misses me and just how much she cares.

Perhaps, James you do indeed still believe in a long term relationship.  Only one who could hold such anticipation of wanting and missing that someone special, would feel this way.

James,

I am on the edge of my seat here in anticipation of what happens next.  I hope she said those words you long to hear, my friend.  Brings back memories of a time long ago when I too had these thoughts in my head about the one I loved.  Thanks for helping me to remember that time!!  Great writing!!

Very nicely said, James.  I hope she left you breathless.  Sometimes, though, we need to hear behind the words, and not just the words themselves.

Well done.

Thank you jwesley for reading and commenting.
Do you mean she might not be telling the truth?   Because I do have a problem with trust.   James

There's nothing more heartwrenching than knowing that two people may feel the same way, but each awaits the other to begin by placing their heart on the line first (sigh) ... sometimes James, we do have to trust that our lives will be richer if, and when, we take that chance, and lead the way. This was a wonderful poem James ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

SBJ....I LOVE THIS SWEET POEM.
it is written so sincere and tenderly
wondeful words of uncertainty, hope and anticpation.
great writing here...creative and imaginative use of the phone call and time.

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Thank you Kit and Janet for commenting.
Kit I have been trying to lead the way but she doesn't trust men and she is not sure about me...we need to go slow and let trust and desires build on a solid foundation.
Yes Janet I feel all of those, the uncertainty, hope, and anticipation.  All of the experiences I am going thru each day are testing and questioning my love for her.  I wonder how I will feel six months from now. James

This is Excellent!!  Wow, I would hate to count how many times I've been on both ends of that call...neither is easy especially when seven comes and goes with no call...ahhhh sorry...lol floating in my own memories now     A great piece does that!!
Thank you for sharing.

James

i have been so far behind on posting...it is SO good to read some of your work. this piece was full of anticipation, hesitancy, hope, and love. it's apparent to me you're ready for those 3 words. i really hope she is as well.

wishing you the best,

Sounds to me like she'd be a fool not to be waiting there for you, James!
