  Of daffodils and lilies

From daffodils to lilies
In the twinkling of an eye.
I walk among the daffodils
But my mind on lilies lie.

From daffodils to lilies
In the twinkling of an eye
In the magic of the daffodils
Are the seeds where lilies lie.

My heart aches only daffodils
My soul and love is in its lie
But my mind envisions lilies
And it weighs me down in sigh.

Where once were only daffodils
Shapely beds in timeless lie.
Now drips dew off lily heads
Dropping off the days gone by.

I would among the daffodils
But only lilies now comply.

Awake in bed of daffodils
while lilies dream of Sy...

Your work always gives one pause, Seymour...and I like the ruminations.

Enjoyed the read as always.  As Claire indicated, your work always has the catch to it that makes you think.

I never could decide between the two myself... This is great, Sy - and the important thing is to appreciate both for what they are while they're in bloom, is it not???...

Now this is perfection!  What a thought provoking and beautifully written poem.  The flow is perfect.  And I, myself can't decide between lilies and daffodils, I appreciate the beauty of both, although lilies remind me of my Grandma.

Take care,
Melissa Honeybee

What a lovely poem! Spring turns a man's heart to the flowers in his soul....you have a way with words, Sy.

They are both so beautiful in their own way...decisions, decisions...I can't decide either! I could be wrong (I usually am) but I also see in this 'the grass is greener...' theme. Regardless, wonderful writing, Sy!

I love them both, Sy...each in its uniqueness and I always enjoy the flowering of your poetry.

Seymour~
Your garden is a render
of memories so tender.
Glad that you have shared
the rows of blooms of the past
and the blooms of today.
Just please 'Don't Eat The Daisies'.

To all my wonderful friends.
This one flew the coo coo nest
Daffodils are the symbol of life
And lilies are the ones of death.
Read it again and get the true meaning I intended. *L* Then I would like your answers again.

Beautiful poem Sy,
perfect rhyme and flow...
BUT me thinks its much to soon for
you to be thinking about Lilies...
your still a rose in bloom...
and a timeless poet.
creative and clever poem here my friend.
miles to go before you sleep...*smile*

They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

From daffodils to lilies,

a beautiful poem with a hint of sadness,
I prefer daffodils as well.

I love daffodils also, the most fleeting passions are the ones that contain the most beauty and this is a classic example

I wish I had come and read sooner, Sy, for I knew where you were going with this one... for my mother despised the lilies my father had planted for she knew their true meaning... and always told us to not give her lilies, but to remember her with roses...
