I dreamed I’d someday hold you,
Within these arms of mine.
The paradise I’d heard about…
Would surely then be mine.
I’d look into your dreamy eyes-
And deep within I’d see…
A look of love beyond my ken,
And all reserved for me.
But dreams fade with the dawning-
Light brings reality.
It’s plain to see and understand,
You don’t belong to me.
I’ll never hold you like I’d planned,
No matter how I scheme-
The thought of you within my arms,
Is just a futile dream.
A lonely moon shines in my room,
To wake me with it’s beams.
I hasten then to hide my head,
And seek you in my dreams.
