As solemn silence reverberates,
...over pall of dying day,
Evening darkens into night,
...death's calm on land does lay.

From afar, repose is broken,
...by sound of nature's hymns,
Vespers of a settling wind,
...sound forth through muted limbs.

With fading rays of sinking sun,
...shadows stalk the winds of fate,
Silent death with razored claws,
...springs forth from Eden's gate.

As solemn silence reverberates,
...over pall of dying fawn,
The forest and its creatures,
...wait advent of the dawn.

In Luna's light, shadows dance,
...across dawn's silent threshold,
Darkness fades, its anger spent,
...an eerie calm betold.

First breath of morning softly whispers,
...upon lush land below,
As eastern sky in garden blooms,
...at touch of sun's first glow.

Amidst the splendor of day's wakening,
...feral creatures pause,
In cathedral of the forest,
...as hush of night withdraws.

In that fleeting, tranquil instant,
...t'wixt darkness and the morn,
Amongst the forest, and its creatures,
...a speckled fawn is born.

So fitting for the morning to issue new life into the forest, after the darkness has taken same. The scene of this beautiful poem and the way you've told this story is magical, Mike. Lovely metaphorical writing.

Mike~
This may well be the prettiest poem I will read this day.
The critters of the forest bring forth such lovely images.
You have written a piece that I think is wonderful.

Brian, thank you ever so much for the gracious reply.
Martie, smiling here... hope you enjoyed your dance with the moon last night.
Lorraine, glad you enjoyed the journey into my little world.
Claire, dealing in the dark, sometimes I have to force myself to remember the dawn. By the way, have we ever metaphor? (sorry, it's been a long weekend, *smile*) Thank you to a magical poetess.
Ms. deVine., why do people always call me sir?  that's not what my four kids call me...hehe   Appreciate the reply and glad you enjoyed.
Marge, if this turned out to be one of the prettiest poems you read this day, you didn't read many of your own.  Thank you ever so much for the gracious comment... your love of nature comes out so strongly in your poetry.
