What’s in a tear

A tear is made of tender mist
A raindrop, soft and meek
It gathers in the well of truth
And falls upon the cheek

It is the dew from sorrow’s brow
A drop of life’s dismay
A misstep of the foot of courage
In the light of day

When spirit falters from a wound
Carved from a jagged knife
The pain flows swift in lucid drops
From out the spring of life

And sometimes tears of joy may stream
From eyelid’s laden swell
For happiness and sorrow’s tears
Rise from the selfsame well

The tears need not be bitter drops
On cheek’s most grievous pose
Sometimes they’re sweet as crystal dew
On petals of a rose

Elizabeth Santos

How wonderful you write, Liz. I have no doubt you could write about passing gas and turn it into a religious experience. Your talent abounds, m'deer.

Balladeer,
Thank you, I think
I'd rather write about that eyelash Parker spoke of. Sounds so much more intriguing!
Thanks
Liz
