the late spring afternoon sun
slipped her fingers between tree branches and leaves
to slither them around on the verdant earth
teasing and tickling the mosses
warming the lush grass with her fire

overreaching the shadows
and dappling the deep greys
into a sunshine submission
as her golden fingers continued her peruse
of the wakeful earth

night was falling soon
and the warm rays would sleep again
until the 'morrow
so the sun flittered and twittered
and giggled her way up to the heavens
back to her resting place
the place where the sun
goes to sleep
when the moon comes out to play

but in a sort of protest
against the coming night
the sun drug her fingers
so
so
so
slowly
over the rocks, and fields, and streams
as she slipped down to her eve's repose
'neath a fluffy cloud blanket
with the night stars to sing her lullaby
and the moon to cast soft cool light
upon her sleeping face

"Our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."

That was fabulous, beautiful imagery.
Excellent work.

slipped her fingers between tree branches and leaves
to slither them around on the verdant earth
teasing and tickling the mosses
warming the lush grass with her fire

overreaching the shadows
and dappling the deep greys
into a sunshine submission
as her golden fingers continued her peruse
of the wakeful earth

so the sun flittered and twittered
and giggled her way up to the heavens
back to her resting place
the place where the sun
goes to sleep
when the moon comes out to play

STUNNING.

XAngel~
Ahhhhh ! Such serene beauty.
Sunsets are rivaled by no other
act of nature.
God creates the masterpiece -
we get to enjoy it nightly.
Then He sets the moon to do her magic
upon the night.
What lovely images you paint.

how nice to see a poem with great and original imagery but at the same time saying beautiful and uplifting things .. so often the powerful and new images seem to be in dark pieces ..... this is a tribute to your skill heather in this type of writing .. really very good and smile making

thanks
