Forever's Bequest

I see you, Oh Great One

in the dusky shadowed eye
of the Indian's ghost,

in the tread of the white
wolf's footsteps,

through the branches of white birch
on a cold winter's morning,

on the slender ripples of the
blue lake's waters.

I see the reflections of you
in those waters,

in the gray cloud-covered
mountain's peak,

on the mountain's ledge
in the bare nest of the eagle's home,

I see you.

Oh Great One,

your spirit is in the horse wild,

in the color of the mallow flower,

in the spark of the red-gold fire,

in the whispers of the wind.

I beseech thee,
Oh Great One,

that when I have to leave,
there will be a shadowed semblance of

me still here to be found.

In the life-breath of a new
foal's birth,

in the spark of the fire's warmth,

in the sweet smell of a meadow's flower,

a sigh in the wind's whisper.

Perhaps, in the sun's shine
and radiance, to be shared

with moon's dark coolness.

So that I might still be a
quiet trace of life to be found

by the searchers.

Karilea~
Awesomely serene and touching ...

'So that I might still be a
quiet trace of life to be found
by the searchers.'

And softly they wait ....
the spirits of our past
that have become our future.
Beautiful, dear friend.

It would be a travesty of justice, if I was to say this one is just good. Simply because, this is way beyond excellence.

Great enjoyable poem, Karilea.

Regards,
Sudhir.

 Life is like a painting,
That in an art gallery is left hanging,
Though many come just to look at it,
A very few actually come to enjoy it.
