Gaelach Glas (Irish Green)

Swirling green of blooming love,
A beautiful rainy sky above,
To save us from the driest year,
God on high shall shed a tear.

On this turn, new dawn of man,
Destroying life like no one can,
God gives another Irish green,
Sowing with a mind so keen.

His attention to minute detail,
Spread into every mount and vale,
Death surrendered to His intimate hand,
As His heart beat for every land.

With fervent joy Earth Mother returned,
Beginning anew a cycle spurned,
Creatures of the land rejoice,
For God has heard your solemn voice.

Amanda, a lovely and poetically fluid poem you have gifted us with upon your arrival. I extend my hand in welcome.

Amanda, aka Lady Sofia,

WELCOME to Passions. You have entered the zone with a roar, and may you forever find the right words that your mind wants to put unto poetry from your soul....

To Sudhir, your words cry the song with which poetry plays in my soul. You know me so well and yet, not at all. Thank you for your poetic insight.

Well the title grabbed my attention.

Mainly the fact that it was in Irish, not that I can remember much of the language from when I was at school. Well Cead Mile Failte roimh, Ta an laoi go hálainn. In english welcome to Passions, and your poem was beautiful. I am just trying to show off here.

That time of year thou mayst in me behold, When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang, Upon those boughs which shake against the cold, Bare ruined choirs where late the sweet birds sang. In me thou see'st the twilight of such day, As after sunset fadeth in the west, Which by-and-by black night doth take away, Death's second self that seals up all in rest. In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire, That on the ashes of his youth doth lie, As the deathbed whereon it must expire, Consumed with that which it was nourished by. This thou perciev'st, which makes thy love more strong, To love that well which thou must leave ere long.
William Shakespeare
