I feel shadows enclosing my vision
Encircling my sight and fading me fast
One last ponder of my indecision
I’ll walk through the haze that’s ever to last

It is dark here and the ground isn’t flat
Up a hill and down a valley I go
I’ve faith in my pocket and love 'neath my hat
A twig in the ground could sprawl me just so

It’s cold in the cavern blackness surrounds me
I will leave nothing but prints on the walls
And when some soul saddens they found me
They’ll be too far for one to answer their calls

The sudden change of elation comes forth
The cavern’s still there but is hidden quite well
You’ll see me clicking my heels toward North
Migration is instinct this condition is hell

Walt!! This is wonderful...I think it's one of your best. You described your emotions perfectly. Keep writing, sir!

A real keeper here Walt....Emotional movement at its best

Have a brew on me TexasWalt.
I have to tell you I admire the line:

"I’ve faith in my pocket and love 'neath my hat"

that's real down home to me...

If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. (Michelle A. Bartley)

Walt~
I'm reminded of 'I can see clearly now'
Nicely done -
I liked David's line of 'emotional movement'
I think that says what I also found in this piece.

Walt - you should be serious more often, it has inspired a great poem ( and that isn't to say that your less serious poems arn't as good, cause I love them all ) . I really enjoyed reading it and stoping to think for a moment afterwards on what your saying and how it matches my mood perfectly .

Though sad, you've written some wonderful poems here. But remember bud...always keep your eyes on Jesus.  I'm sorry you feel so bummed, wish we could have talked last night but I had to go.
I too love the line "faith in my pocket and love under my hat. Excellent!

I'm expanding that favorite part to the whole second stanza, my friend... The "twig on the ground" is pretty darned good as well..
