You would not want the stars to fade away
To sprinkle not again the velvet sky
Nor wish the sun not greet each dawning day
To radiate its brilliance from on high.
You would not want the tears to always flow
From heaviness of heart from missing you
Unable to enjoy the wondrous show
Of life unfolding endlessly anew.
Your wish would be that I would carry on
To somehow find the wings to rise above
The pressing clouds of gray since you’ve been gone
And revel in your legacy of love.

To you no greater honor can I give
Than on transcendent wings again to live.

Denise

What can I say but beautiful, there is a sense of sadness and loss but from my reading it seems that you have turned it into something positive. Well written, fantastic poem.

Denise,
I think the writer's block is a joke for a poetess like you!
-----------
Your wish would be that I would carry on
To somehow find the wings to rise above
....
To you no greater honor can I give
Than on transcendent wings again to live.

Such beautiful words.

Brian- Thanks! You've read it correctly!

Melissa- Thanks! You always say the nicest things!

Sharon- Thanks! I'm not getting my hopes up just yet, I might jinx myself!

Sudhir- Thanks! Oh, it's a joke alright...and the joke's on me!

Marge- Thanks! It feels so good!

Marina- Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Martie- Thanks! The light at the end of the tunnel is shining brightly!

Balladeer- Sure...hehehe   Thank you! You actually gave me the inspiration for this about 5 or 6 months ago by one of your comments to a poem I had written. I'm just a bit slow on the uptake!

Thank you, Lady Web, Rex, Walt, David, Elizabeth and Kit for reading and for your lovely comments.

Elizabeth- It takes time to arrive, finally, at this state of mind, I suppose. At least it has taken me quite awhile. As you know, the grieving process can not be rushed. We have to let ourselves feel it and let it work its way through us. Some of your lovely poems have helped me to do just that, and so I too thank you!

Denise, all I can say is I love your sonnets, and the more I read of them, the more I want to write them.

Thank you so much, Ellie, SpitFire and Claire for reading and for your wonderful comments!

Claire, yes, I know you can relate very well to this. It's hard to go on and it's only made possible, I think, when we realize that that is what they would want us to do.
