When Death Comes Knocking

When death comes knocking do not pine for me
For I will be upon contentmentís throne
And savor dainty nectar of the bee
The sweet of Godís abundant Honeycomb

The stars and moons will take me in embrace
And cast their subtle beams across my cheek
Inscribing humbleness upon my face
That God may bless this spirit poor and meek

In fragrace of Godís garden I will dwell
And though it seems that life from earth departs
As honey flows forever from the bee
I thus will live forever in your hearts

If tears will set discomfortís sorrow free
Mourn for yourselves, but never weep for me

Elizabeth Santos

Very beautiful.  I'll try not to weep, but I still hope that time doesn't come anytime soon. =)

Sunshine, Thank you dear, for your comments. I didn't mean this sonnet to be a sad poem. It is a reflection of how I view death. It is meant to be a calming poem
Thanks

White Knight,
Thank you for your comments. This is only a thought about how I feel, not about anything that is happening in my life. It's just a poem.
Thanks
Liz

This poem has left me with one huge mix of emotion: I found it sad yet soothing, calming but moving. The tears it brought me within are a delicate mixture of all the feelings this poem has inspired in me. Lovely poem, Liz.

You and Tony are in my prayers, may God be with you both.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Very beautiful and contrary to some of the responses here, I found this uplifting, with a positive outlook.

Elizabeth, this is a beautifully well written, exquisite sonnet! It is soothing and peace producing. It is a similar theme to one that I wrote last night that I will post shortly. You are getting quite expert with this sonnet thingie.....hehehe

Liz~
Very moving and strong poem.   I love the feeling that I get from this one.  It IS a very calming poem, and I feel the same way about death, myself.

In fragrace of Godís garden I will dwell
And though it seems that life from earth departs
As honey flows forever from the bee
I thus will live forever in your hearts

If tears will set discomfortís sorrow free
Mourn for yourselves, but never weep for me

Very good!  I love this!!!

Love Ya~

Lizzy - this is absolutely perfect...maybe the second time I have labelled a poem such.

It IS calming, and brave, and sad and many many things.

Elizabeth,
This is a beautiful sonnet. I loved the first and the last two lines

When death comes knocking do not pine for me
....
If tears will set discomfortís sorrow free
Mourn for yourselves, but never weep for me

Sheer strength of character shines through this one. Right positive attitude, it wreaks of and leaves one in a frame of mind that keeps thoughts lingering on....

Regards, sudhir

Though many come just to look at it,
A very few actually come to enjoy it.

An amazing way to look at death, fantastic images, that was very beautiful.

"If tears will set discomfortís sorrow free
Mourn for yourselves, but never weep for me"
a powerful and perfect ending.

I heard a quote, Woody Allen I think, "it is not death I fear only dying"

Denise,
It's so wonderful to see you writing so much. Keep the ink flowing. It's wonderful. I'm glad you liked the sonnet, Queen of Sonnets. Thanks

Terry, And I found your remarks soothing as well, Thank you so much

Martie, I don't think anybody sees death clearly, but I don't believe it's something to fear. Thanks, dear

PDV, Thank you. I am not familiar with the Hospice program but understand that it is very worthwhile

Kamla, A "perfect" from you is better than winning an Oscar, or Album of the Year, or even an Olympic Gold Metal, because I admire your poetry so much. A humble thank you to one who examines all aspects of life with microscopic thought.

Sudhir, I enjoyed reading your response. Thanks so much

Brian, I really enjoyed your Woody Allen quote, And thank you for your kind remarks

Becky, Thanks so much. Glad you liked it

Rainbow, Suppose we just make a date to meet there, OK? I'll look for a rainbow and you look for a little lost soul. Let's do lunch!
Love ya

Liz

How beautifully this has been done!  Prior to my grandfather passing I never thought of death as a comfort...but he made me see death as not something to fear or as an END...more of a beginning, I have even been to a funeral that was actually a "celebration" it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.  Thank you for helping me to remember that

Butterflies, Sounds like your grandfather was at peace with himself, and I think that is so important, for death is truly not an end. Thank you

Lone wolf, Your comments are very warming.I did write this with positive feelings. Thank you

Liz: You're on, let's make it noon and then we can have hors d'oeuvre (just cause a door is open, doesn't mean you have to go through it..*g*..by the way, I like a flakeless sole, you could have joined me for smoked, (that means heaven sent) mackerel this evening...*g*...ok, I'll shutup now,...

I'm off to bed...hug that pillow tight or Denise will use it to pick up homeless leaves..

HUSG

ps: My way is to laugh through the bad times, in case anyone thinks I'm being thoughtless and uncaring, I'm not, I just disguise my tears well.

hehe. I love to see someone else have to say "It's just a poem". Very well done, Elizabeth....and points well taken. The grief is always borne by those left behind, not the departee. I admire the cultures that celebrate one's passage as a bittersweet, yet happy, occasion. You are very gifted....
