I’ve said that I forgive, but not forget.
You have caused these scars that will not heal.
There are things I haven’t dealt with yet.
Unable to tell you how I feel.

You have caused these scars that will not heal.
Days that pass are pulling us apart.
Unable to tell you how I feel.
Bitter are the words that fill my heart.

Days that pass are pulling us apart.
Past pain rears it’s ugly head again.
Bitter are the words that fill my heart.
Screaming out my hurt like I’m insane.

Past pain rears it’s ugly head again.
You don’t see the damage you have done.
Screaming out my hurt like I’m insane.
Waiting for the tears that never come.

You don’t see the damage you have done.
Too many years of hiding it from you.
Waiting for the tears that never come.
Combining all the old hurts with the new.

Too many years of hiding it from you.
There are things I haven’t dealt with yet.
Combining all the old hurts with the new.
I’ve said that I forgive, but not forget.

Wow! Powerful poem here. The tears that never come are very frustrating and sometimes more painful than the ones that do come.   Just a thought.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

Lucie~
I hope you can find the release of tears that will wash the unwanted pain of the past from you.
Great big hugs are sent your way.

Thank you both for your reply. When hurt is not dealt with it does fester. I hope someday I can let go and move forward.

Girl, deal with it, and move on!  Don't let it fester, like you said!  Get it all out in the open, and then take a step forward for yourself!  That's what I've done, and lawd, let me tell you, do I ever feel better!  Sometimes, we DO have to do what's best for "us" meaning oneself.  Until you get a handle on your own life, you're not going to do anyone good, being a part of theirs.  Here I am preaching, just wanted to say how Powerful this was!  So glad to see your little name here and there!     Love you!

I know what you mean Femme.. But when they are your only remaining family member it's hard to cut the ties and float alone.

Good thing he lives so far away... curse that Alexander Graham Bell for giving the  him the means to continue to hurt my feelings! hehe
