You were right J. Marie - I got inspired!

A Second
by Lori Lockheart

The cloud's violet haze
Covers the mystic sky.
The song of a soaring seagull
Slowly passes me by.

The ocean's big white waves
Break like a rippling sail.
The sound of the wandering breeze
Is carried with an untouched shell.

The sun reflects on the water,
Shimmering like a candle in the wind.
The time of the soothing sunset
Is slowly drawing to an end.

A sudden glimpse of the moon appears,
Summoning the night to arrive.
The memory of that faded image
Is only one second passing in time.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance - I hope you dance.
song by LeeAnn Womack
Lori* You drew such a beautiful picture with this and it's as vivid as if you would have painted it upon a canvas.  Thank you for taking me there within your words.
Beautifully written poem!!!  The imagery is just wonderful!!  Love the last stanza especially.
Lori~
If you want to elicit emotion,
take your muse to the ocean.
This is wonderful.
