Listening to every heart

Still the Book

To hold a book of poetry
             under blanket warm
                         the music soft & low
                                      a cup of warmed tea
thrills me.

In black on white the words
             of the dead poets past
                        rush my senses
                                      and it won't last
this serenity.

Odd thoughts collect
here is a piece of Rimbaud
                         & Dickinson
                                      right before me
and I wonder

In what manner will my friends'
            art forms take on
or will a closet of notes
                                      and scribblings
hold their legacies?

For them, I will hope
there will still be the books
to hold, under a blanket warm
                                      with music low
                                                      and warmed tea
to thrill.

I love your thoughts here Sunshine ... there's nothing like a wonderful book on a cozy evening to soothe the soul and reach into another's world ... how sad, if their wondrous thoughts are hidden in a closet left unshared. Wonderful!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Sunshine~
Oh, this is lovely and nostalgic.
I share the marvelous books with dog-eared pages of poetry loved through many a sleepless night.
I agree with you ... much fine talent here to be placed on the pages of a fine book of poetry to be handed down.
Love this my friend.

Sun,
I LOVE THIS POEM!!
wonderful thoughts and perfect presentation of them as well.

few things (if any) give me more contentment
than reading poetry.
thanks for the contenment found while reading this gem.
tkae care,
jm

 It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
How one move just puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin
We ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let you get away from me.
