My day was moving along perfect
And then like a lightening strike
Your memory shows my heartís defect
Bringing with it smiles and pain alike

I feel the caress of your words on my heart
As potent as if you touched my skin
And the pain of being apart
Iím transported there again

Within a moment it all came rushing back
The pain and the joy Iíve tried to forget
Reminding me of what I lack
Filling my heart and soul with regret

I still see the sparkle of your eyes
The light of your laughter in my day
The way the clouds parted in my skies
How you became my life in every way

What I wouldnít give for a moment with you
To tell you all that you still make me feel
Iím ashamed at my fear to share this with you
All that felt so right and so real

I just wanted to love you
And that was no problem at all
Then through my fingers it flew
Leaving me with only your name to call

Oh how I want you back in my life
To take away the ache in my soul
The pain of loosing you cuts like a knife
With you I always felt whole

Now that youíve gone Iím left to wonder
If the love was from me alone
The cracking of my heart sounds like thunder
And the tears soaking me to the bone

Iíll scream to the dark in the night
And pray that the feelings fade away
That your memory leaves my sight
As this blanket of hope begins to fray

B.D.C.,
I agree with JM....WOW!!!  Such raw emotion and sadness.  We all feel this way at one time or another.  Hang on to that hope, my friend.  It will get better!!

"The cracking of my heart sounds like thunder"
WOW
With this poem I could hear that thunder all the way over here.
Sewing the edges of that fraying blanket for you!
This is sad but wonderfuly written and expressed!

Excellent BDC!!  This one speaks powerfully to the way that memories can just sneak up on us when we least expect them. . .sometimes, I wish that we didn't have them. . .

Great poem. . .

Butterfly,
I can't tell you how much this poem means to me.  It's printing right now.  You have so beautifully expressed all the emotions and feelings I am going through right now.  Exactly.

"Oh how I want you back in my life
To take away the ache in my soul
The pain of loosing you cuts like a knife
With you I always felt whole"

I love your writing.  It inspires me, touches me, and makes me cry and smile.
Thank you.
Lori

I wish I could say that I didn't know EXACTLY where this one came from. =)  You've spoken so many words here that would have been written so many times over the past five years if I had only had your talent. =)  Thank you for sharing.  This is one of those I'd print (If only my printer had ink in it...  )  --Dave
