Eternal Dance

In the moonlight, shadows dancing
Their bodies intertwined as one
Two together, now romancing
The moonlit waltz has just begun

In the moonlight, they are swaying
In this dance they’ve danced before
No sound, no rhythm, no music playing
They tread as one, the two, once more

In the moonlight, shadows dancing
In quiet stillness, watch them now
Their fluid motion, so entrancing
The dance, it seems, a sacred vow

In the moonlight, tears are falling
And she murmurs, cries his name
He pulls her closer as she’s calling
It all has changed, but yet’s the same

In the moonlight, shadows dancing
Her voice to him, it does implore
As time and morning are advancing
She whispers to him, “Evermore”

In the moonlight, watch them swaying
No longer are they flesh and bones
While underground, their bodies laying
Here amongst the aged tombstones

In the moonlight, shadows dancing
Things happen that we can’t explain
So two souls, discovery chancing
Kiss, as it begins to rain

In the moonlight, Love has risen
As daylight breaks, they disappear
They’ve now released their earthly prison
Or were they ever really here?

To love means never to be afraid of the windstorms of life: should you shield the canyons from the windstorms you would never see the true beauty of their carvings. ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Ruth,
I really love this one.   Especially the very last line:

Or were they ever really here?

That brings it all together.  This was wonderful!  Thank you for reposting!

Oh Ruthie,
This literally gave me goose bumps. Such vivid detail in this. I can see how this could be one of your favorites, "cause now it's one mine too.

All my love,

This is the one that led to the challenge 'In the moonlight, shadows dancing'! How could I ever forget that one! It led to one of my favorite ones that I ever wrote too! Thanks for reposting this, Ruth! It brought back some fun memories for me too! This is also one of my favorites of yours!

Oh goose bumps is right!  This one was pure magic at the beginning, and then had a spooky air towards the ending for some reason!  Kind of a mysterious twist!  I think me needs to read it again, girl!  Mystically breathtaking indeed!  Now I know why it's one of your fav's!  *curtsies to ya!*
