Somewhere Hidden

The cold dark ache of rejection
and the haunting tale that it tells
born into a world of conflicts
everyone else gets glorification.

Sometimes I feel I have no mind
no brain inside to function right
a hollow chamber filled with coal
seeing a road I keep failing to find.

They say it's paved for me to drive
black asphalt the whole darn distance
still no clue how to wind up there
all I know at times is that I'm alive.

I feel warm skin attached to me
yet inside feels colder than ice
chambered halls of ice cold nothing
freezing into someone I cannot be.

Where's the exit from this prison
or will the walls be closing in?
The cookie monster wants his cake
as my skins warmth has already risen.

Am I in here somewhere hidden
can I come out to play someday?
Will I be accepted as me
or will I be in a world forbidden?

The "me" inside you is wonderful, Gloria... No need to stress - You're great just the way you are - Keep smiling, my friend..

Wow! I think this is now my favorite of yours, Gloria! I can relate well to these feelings that you have so skillfully expressed. Life can get a bit confusing and scarey at times, can't it?

You know, I think I've passed you now about 4 times...?  Are we trying to find that same "road" ?  hehehe  Honk next time we pass, ok?  (Red Chevy Z71)  You'll see me waving!  LOL

Girl, I like how you take a painful and serious topic, and then throw in the cookie monster in there somewhere....   That gives the reader a chance to let out their breath they're holding, with a chuckle!     Very nice read, and I'm so glad you really are happy!

Ruth: Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed. I had fun playing with this one.

Denise: What a compliment, I thank you very much.   confusing and scarey that's why I run.

Genn: You have me laughing, I think if we were on the same road we would not be passing each other we'd have a head on collision...LOL
Glad you liked the cookie monster he bribed me to have me put him in the poem, he offered me an Oreo cookie and I just couldn't refuse.
Thank you for reading glad you enjoyed the poem it was interesting to write too.

Oh gads Gloria!  I hadn't thought of it THAT way!

I tell you what, you stay on your side of this crazy road, and I'll stay on mine, then we'll be alright!   Oh...um...I'm the one swerving alot, and knocking over farm animals, so I'm not promising that I'm staying on the pavement here.....ok?  Just warning you.     Seatbelts please!!   ROFL

Great poem,

"Am I in here somewhere hidden
can I come out to play someday?
Will I be accepted as me
or will I be in a world forbidden?" this is a thought that used to plague my mind alot, but as hard as it seems, just be yourself.

A great poem, I really liked the cookie monster line.

"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting".

E. E. Cummings
