On Mother's Day

She taught me "please" and "Thank you very much"
And read me stories filled with little rhymes.
She soothed me with her tender caring touch
And guided me through tearful trying times.
She taught me how to fight and not give in
And held me when I'd hurt myself somehow.
She calmed me when I took it on the chin
And smiled to smooth my sad and sorrowed brow.
She loved me even though I often failed
And always claimed me proudly as her son.
She watched the day my life become derailed
And stood by me despite what ills were done.

Among all women God has so endowed
My mother stands alone above the crowd

This is very beautiful David.  I hope you get a chance to share this with her.  With Mother's Day coming around, I too, hope to write something special for my mom.  I thank God she is still in my life.  Thanks for sharing!

I've actually been "trying" not to read any of the mother's day pieces that have begun to appear...but I saw yours and well, there went my resolve...

All the treasured times you describe here, all the devotion you obviously share with her...so beautifully relayed through this lovely piece of writing. Thank you...

David2~
Mom's are like that ...
yeah, we are.
A tender tribute you've penned.
