Reflections Lost

Their words flow,
through the other
from sea to sea,
molding thoughts
with hearts;
bareing their all.

As she looks in the mirror,
she sees a reflection of him
in her own eyes
and the image haunts her
as does his words
that flow through endlessly.

She watches him,
peer over the edge
enticed by the darkest waters
of her eyes,
as the new sun slowly
rises...
melts
into water and sky.

Her hands reach
to touch the illusion
that lays before her;
heart feeling empty
when her hands touch
nothingness.

He looks up at her
through the mirror;
his eyes,
sparkling back to her,
begging her to follow,
so as not to go alone;
knowing she will not.

She hesitates
for one moment;
reaches to touch the image
once more
before it disappears;
and as a tear rolls down her cheek,
she turns away.

 To love means never to be afraid of the windstorms of life: should you shield the canyons from the windstorms you would never see the true beauty of their carvings. ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Ah Ruth, m'dear, we are complimenting each other today...see "Haunting Promise" and see how it goes hand in hand with yours, I believe...well done!

There is a scene from one of my favorite movies...Ladyhawke...where they are waking in the morning light and reaching to each other that I think this describes beautifully.  Well done, Ruth!

It is hard to love and not touch...there is so much longing in this poem, Ruth, and many different ways to interpret it...a good thing.  It is beautifully done!

Ruth,
  This was full of emotions and I loved this line "enticed by the darkest waters
of her eyes,' Thanks.

Oh Ruth...this is just splendid although painful for me to read.  I too, like to use that "eyes, reflecting as mirrors" thing.  You have done a beautiful job with this, it's got to be one of my favorites of yours. The story hits so close to home too.  As Martie said, it is hard to love and not touch.  Especially if you're the one who pulls away, in fear.  I think you know what I mean....Take care of you dear.  -pFF

I know you have touched me in such a way as this.....and I will never be the same.....and with your writings so may I remain in the state of bliss that you give with little effort.  Missing you,

David

This one hits home....so beautiful and sad.  You know what they say, the eyes are the mirrors to our soul...
Great writing!!

Oh Ruth,

I can't tell you how well I know this... Way to close to home. Very nicely done.

Hoot-girl,

wow...your imagery in this was breath taking..
so glad your back and feeling better...
and LOL at your oatmeal joke
so glad the poem worked up an appetite...

I just wanted this to be seen again from the bridge instead of the observation deck. Hope you don't mind.
