I just want to apologize for the way I've been thinking lately. When I first started here, I was under the impression that if no one responded to my poems within an hour, the poem was horrible, but I know now that is just not true.

God gave me one chance
And I bailed
God gave me one chance
And I failed
Just one chance
I thought it was through
Just one chance
To be with you

But, God opened a window
When He closed that door
He's giving me another chance
Just one more
You're the reason I live
The best thing that could happen to me
How do you spell "ethereal"?

tom--

i for one really like your work...and i know my fellow friends here at passions would never intentionally make someone feel bad about their work. we all are here to write poetry, to learn from another, and to grow and mature as individuals and as poets. it is my belief that anyone who has enough guts to post his/her poetry online is a true winner. i believe that everyone here makes up the passions family...and that we all connect on different levels, however connect we do...just the same  . as for this piece, i thought it was beatiful. she is a lucky girl and so are you...sometimes all we need is one more chance. i hope this is yours.
take care,
amy

Thanks again. I honestly didn't know what I was thinking. As for me and Janine, I haven't asked her out yet. I guess it's so hard because I haven't actually spoken to her in three years and when I see her everyday, it just makes things harder. I don't know, maybe that's more info on me than people want, but at this point I need all the help I can get.

Tom,
You can read my writing and know that I relate to your comments above.  How hard it is to have such strong, powerful feelings about someone, and yet be powerless at the same time.  You have spoken to me in true kinship. Thanks,
Lori

There's no need for apologies, Tom. Just stick around, the more people get to know you through your replies to their poems the more replies you will get to yours. You just have to make your presence known and that usually takes a little time. This poem is very sweet. I hope you get the courage up to talk to her. If she truly is the one for you it will work out!

Tom - I am glad you realize it is not your
poems that don't get responded to.
So many poems so many people hoping for responses.  So much time ---
I respond to a good many  as you can see
by how long I have been here and the amt
of posts ----but I am human.

This poem is lovely ------and since I am
so outspoken, if God gives you one
chance then you better go talk to this
girl of your dreams ------what if she
is shy and thinks you are one heck of a guy?

Then where will you two be???
We have to take chances in life - especially
so, with our hearts.

Tom...must admit haven't been on to read a whole lot lately, but I like your work.  This is a great poem and your feeling come through loud and clear.  I hope you get your chance....
