~ ~ ~
Beneath the deeply dipping blue spruce
nestling closely against the ground,
sharp and poignantly aromatic;
my purest innocence
faded into
the moss; the
cool retreat from sweltering
summer’s displeasure; sharpened with
peaks of curiosity, and stabbed
with needles of guilt,
without pretence.
~ ~ ~
Only eleven years
old, and chaste, the year
that we met; my wonderings and
wanderings echo still, deep in the canyons
of my memory.  Here lie these innocent waking
dawns, showing themselves in pale pure
light, and the fresh breath of sunrise,
with pleasure still, yet sorrow
in the penitence.
~ ~ ~
And thirty-eight years
after, we love each other still.

OH MY!   Awesomeo work here. From smiles to tears of joyful appreciation for such beauty. I find myself going back and forth tonight with all of the things I'm reading.   I loved this.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

Rosemary--this is so true and delicately told...

my purest innocence
faded into
the moss; the
cool retreat from sweltering
summer’s displeasure; sharpened with
peaks of curiosity, and stabbed
with needles of guilt,
without pretence

Wonderful writing, my friend, and a wonderful love!

I'd be F.I.N.E if she didn't come up with new recipes ever other day/night or so. She said life is like Crossing Rivers but I have to tell you, I'm wet........ E******

If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. (Michelle A. Bartley)
