                 In Times Of …

My soul drifts aimlessly in times of hopelessness.
It searches tirelessly for meaning and truth …
  Yet finds no direction.

My heart bleeds quietly in times of loneliness.
It yearns to find warmth and happiness  …
  Yet it somehow eludes me.

My eyes seek out visions in times of want.
They gaze endlessly through the blackness that envelops them …
Yet they cannot see the light.

My ears listen earnestly in times of silence.
They search for familiar sounds to comfort and console …
Yet they cannot penetrate the darkness that surrounds me.

My arms reach out frantically in times of despair.
They seek strength and compassion to enfold me …
Yet they find nothing substantial to enwrap.

My mind cries out desperately in times of solitude.
It poses intense questions that demand answers …
Yet there are none to be found.

This is very touching, Kit. I know those times too well. Very well stated.

A great poem, from the soul to the mind and all that is physical in between.  You have a very nice vocabulary and it portrays itself very well.  Good job!

I like the positive side of this: that while your subject is not finding the relief/comfort he/she desires, in each case he/she keeps on searching/striving.

Kit--

i have read three or four pieces of yours thus far...and each hold such a ringing of pure truth in them. i find it very admirable when a poet can lay our she/he's heart and express their inner most thoughts. its a VERY hard thing to do...but something i'm beginning to see that you do quite well!

WOW!!!This stanza right here hit me straight in the heart...full of such hope and longing, mixed with a tinge of sadness.

take care,

~Brandyn:  I'm glad you saw a positive side to this, though I'll admit, when I wrote it, I was feeling rather negative ... glad some sunshine came through somewhere. Thank you for the insightful comments Brandyn ...

~Amy:  I fear I've been told "too many" times that I wear my heart on my sleeve ... I guess it reached my pen a few times too.  Good thing or bad thing I wonder?  Thank you for all the wonderful comments Amy.

You've brightened a tough week;
Much appreciation,
/Kit

Kit,
I hope your feelings never quit finding themselves to your pen.  Oh, what we would miss!  If writing does for you what it does for me, then expressing your thougts this way can only be a good thing.  Keep 'em coming.

Kit~
I can relate to your poem...there are many truthisms there, but never stop striving for the answers.  Bravo

~Lori:  Thank you for the kind words Lori. I penned this not too long ago in desperation, and it fit my mood the night I decided to post it here.  Like you ... I don't know what I'd do without my "pen" ...

~KellSue:  I will always strive for answers too hard I fear ... for my dad is a psychiatrist! Question life ... question love ... question sanity some days ...

With much appreciation,
/Kit
