Seven Years
Lori LockHeart

Seven Years.
An entire war was fought.
Bad luck has lived and died.
Fashion has evolved, music has been rewritten,
And many tears have been cried.

Seven Years.
The birth of your beautiful daughter,
The closure of the union with her mother,
And the tragic, sudden death of your brother,
And my friend.

Seven Years.
A new start.
Look at all that has changed.
Yet itís still the same in my heart.

Seven Years.
Long enough for so much.
Yet not long enough.
I still need your loving touch.

Seven Years.
No words spoken at all.
Now tragedy has brought me back to you,
And just like the undertow of the Gulf, where our love grew,
I am again drowning in your eyes of blue.

Seven Years.
Not even one little glimpse of you.
Now here we are standing in the rain,
And I believe that all of these feelings are true.
I guess some things never change.

Iím still in love with you, blue eyes.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance - I hope you dance.
Lori,
Powerful writing!!  This is so sentimental and full of memories.  Amazing how much so many things can change, but others stay exactly the same, isn't it?  Excellent poem.  I enjoyed it very much!!!
Lori,
this is a very COOL poem...I love this one.
the seven year theme is very cool and the emotions and events time-lined is very creative.
All my sevens were more like the seven year itch LOL
all though it does sound like this guys under your skin...
good luck...
excellent writing here,
take care, jm
 It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
How one move just puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin
We ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let you get away from me.
Excellent Lori, you have really done it with this one!!
It's interesting how that one person can always affect us, even after a very long time. . . I can feel that here. . .
Wonderful my friend. . .
Very nice poem...straight from the heart. A love that lingers.
This is haunting and very touching.  The poignancy of meeting a long lost lover, and finding that you are still in love with him affects me very deeply.  Excellent poem.
Lori* this was wonderful, the way that you showed all the changes in life yet the heart and love don't age do they, at least not when it's soooooooo right. Thank you for sharing this.
Love it !
When the eyes
can still mesmerize ...
time has a way of standing still.
Beautifully stated ...
bet he felt it too.
This is wonderful Lori ... you've captured the renewal of long lost love beautifully with your words.  Sometimes it does come back stronger the second time around. Lovely poem!
Best wishes,
/Kit
