Mother, I am sitting here
Wishing I could die
Wishing I’d be whisked away
To meet you up on high

But Mother do not worry
God won’t forgive that sin
With newfound priorities
I won’t do myself in

Mother when you had to leave
I’d never meet a girl
You thought I would be alone
But Mom she’s wonderful

Mother you have grandchildren
You’ll never get to meet
At least not on earth that is
One day we’ll be complete

Mother I wish I could call you
And tattle on my wife
You could maybe side with me
And make easier my life

Mother when you died your mother
Cried she lost you so
To outlive your only child
Must be a terrible blow

But Mother now your mother
Can sit with you and talk
She saw the baby’s birth she did
But missed his toddling walk

If you were wondering Mother
About your father’s care
He seemed to be a hard old man
He cried when he saw you there

Mother I’m not Catholic
But I think you’re a saint
You took what all was dealt to you
As life’s poetic paint

I was a clear canvas Mother
Oh how you loved to draw
You filled me with poetic paint
And loved my every flaw

Sometimes Mother I may wish
But I know that you can see
If I’ve bout fifty years left
Will you spend them watching me

Walt~
This is sentimentally soft and stirring.
Tears it brought to this lady's eyes.
You've a heart of gold.

I'm so glad you are not going to 'do yourself in'...your wife and kids need you. Your mom will be watching you from Heaven and smiling everytime you write a funny poem.....this is a sweet one..

OH Walt! This is nothing less than spectacular bud! You met a challenge and exceeded it!

It's so sad, but so poetically beautiful.
You're heart is pouring out and this really touched me! Bravo Walt, BRAVO!
