Today was a good day
Wish they could all be that way
Going out and having fun
With you in the warmth of the sun
Setting our cares aside
No rules in which to abide

Just the two of us here
Has been for many a year
Too late to ever go back
Can't seem to find the right track
We passed the point to return
That was the hardest to learn

Days like today I feel
Something inside that seems real
Spending time with you
Like no one exists except two
There is not a crowd
Things will be quiet not loud

I know you can be soft and sweet
In your arms I've felt the heat
A love like ours could create
Maybe it's not too late
To give this an honest try
Before that last shred of love dies

Alas that time has come and gone
Now we must both move on
Release that which can never be
Don't look back or you will see
The scattered pieces of my broken heart
Would need a map to find each part

They have all been tossed about
I tried to scream and then shout
To put an end to my agony
Stop the world from turning ebony
But it was all to no avail
My heart has left a bloody trail

LoneWolf~

Sadly I hear your heart sighs ...

From your own depth of feeling -
'Maybe it's not too late
To give this an honest try'

This was a beautiful read with a "twist".  As I read, I thought I was going to discover a "happy ending" to follow such positive realizations.  Alas ... your closing seemed final and heartwrenching.  Are you sure it's truly too late?

That was a beautiful insight into a broken heart.  Beautiful piece.

Poet deVine....Thanks and yes, it is just that!!

Marge....Thanks for the hugs, but I think it is already too late for that.

Kit...Thanks for the reply.  Sorry about that twist...just life I guess.  I do believe it is truly too late for any kind of reconcilliation.  Very sorry to say that.

Dawn....beautiful reply....thanks!!

Netswan....the path has been chosen for me, my friend.  It is very hard to let go.  Thanks for the hugs and kind words!!  Catch up with you a little later I hope!!

WOLFE, so exquisite this one.
I must say that letting go as stated above is a difficult journey of the heart yet one was blessed with yesterdays and now will have new tomorrows.

Lone Wolf,
Oh how my heart aches for you. This piece left tears in my eyes. I know that things will get better in time. I hope you realize that as well. Keep writing, that will always help ease the pain.

Take care

All my love,
Jeffrey

CocoBaci...yes, it is a difficult journey.  Thank you for the kind words and for reading!!

Jeffrey...Here is a tissue for those tears, my friend.  I know things will get better in time.  I'll always keep writing to deal with the emotions of life....happy or sad.  Thank you!!

LW...this is so honest and real and perfect...seems we are traveling the same roads these days...
I know...you know....wish we didnt know.
the poetry keeps us sane.
take care, stay strong

 It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
How one move just puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin
We ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let you get away from me.

JM....so sorry to hear we are traveling the same roads.  Would not wish it upon anyone.  Yes, we know and I really wish I didn't, but nothing I can do to change it....have tried everything I know.  Yes, the poetry keeps us sane...thank God.  Thank you for the wonderful reply.  I just wrote what was in my battered heart.
You take care and stay strong, too.
