An Ode to Baskin Robbins
by bboog

When the craving for sanity hits
A taste of ice cream is the reward
There's a place I recommend.
Do I need to say much more?

The awning is pink-striped like candy
and the air-conditioner always works dandy.
They serve you standing straight up
In a pink-n-brown polka dotted cup
(Or a dark or light colored sugar cone)

I'll have a scoop of mint-n-chocolate chip
Followed by Jamocha almond fudge.
I'll try a peanut-butter n chocolate dip,
Could you put a "taste" of monkey mash on my lip?

What's the latest flavor for June?
They'll let you try it.
With a pink teeny-tiny
taster plastic spoon. Mmmmm!

Oreo cookies n cream make you hum?
Does a hot fudge sundae make you holler?
They sell low-fat and they have yogurt-
And prepacked quarts- 2 for five dollars.

So here's to summer and hot weather.
Baggy shorts and baseball caps
To scorched souls seeking refuge
To grandkids who took their naps.

You'll find them all at Baskin Robbins,
With a common attitude.
Eating luscious creamy sweetness,
With a joyful look of gratitude.

(B&R is enjoyed the world over! This poem was written without official permission and after sampling several flavors for "research".

the world that ne'er goes to baskin

Cute poem but I hate to burst this B&R bubble...I can take it or leave it. I'm not an ice cream aholic..though some of my friends are!

LOL   Very flavorful poem, Bob! So many flavors, so little time.....hehehe....I should have partaken of some of this frozen delight when babysitting for my grandson Christian the other day. Boy, that was a perfect opportunity missed!!

Your research must have been yummy for this poetic treat!

I loved the "To grandkids who took their naps" line, bboog.

D~ Thanks for your delicious reply. Isn't Mother's Day around the corner? (A perfect place to head on a hot afternoon.)

Claire~ Yes, the sacrifices we make for the sake of art. It's a dirty job, but...etc. etc. Thanks for reading and responding.

best regards to both of you,

Mmm... A delicious poem.   You know I may just have to call the Husband for some ice cream (any at this point since my tastebuds are tingling) before he gets home from work. Geesh..Teasing..thats what this is!
I wonder if you can do one about snowballs. Another favorite summertime treat.

P.S. I thought I should cut out what I previously wrote about my blood sugar, etc.  Who wants to hear that!  (I wrote that too late at night, if you know what I mean.)  Hey, I'll just stick to the delicious subject at hand!  Thank you, bboog, for your reply to what I wrote before.

Temptress~
Call the husband, phone the neighbors get that B&R fix, NOW! lol  Hey, thanks for reading and responding.

Rosemary~ Thanks for your response(s). I too have to watch my girlish figure (even though I'm not a girl) but I've got one 6 year old who is a raging ice cream fanatic so I'm the one nibbling on his sundae when he's distracted. Thanks for reading and responding.
best regards to both of you,
bboog

thanks for reading/responding. (I liked your little face ~ resembled somebody with one of those little pink taster spoons.)
best regards,
