MIDNIGHT DAWN

In the twinkling of an eye,
A mere inkling of thought.
Stand, deliver, hone the lie
If by a dream forgot.
Gasp and sigh then wonder why
Vision lies out of reach.
Truth denied by heaven's cry
The lesson here to teach.

In the dusk of Midnight Dawn
An image drawn I see.
By starry sky 'er wished on
Does she now fall to me.
If but to land in the hand
And burn the fist clinched tight.
Reprimand ne'er could withstand
The brand I bear this night.

Sonic call beyond the hall
Of dire retribution.
By the fire as I now fall
Beyond restitution.
Shallow masks and golden flasks
May hold the life distilled.
But ne'er love temptation asks
Of desire unfulfilled.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

This is beautiful and I can't say anything that would do it justice. So all I will say is that it filled my heart with tingly emotion.

Love and hugs,

Magical! This poem read like a midnight dream.....superlatives no longer suffice when describing your work. I think I'll just go one a numbering system from one to ten, this one is 1,200,000...

 It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
How one move just puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin
We ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let you get away from me.

Michael~
I really like this one.
Some wonderful thoughts on display.

But ne'er love temptation asks
Of desire unfulfilled.'

Pretty awesome.

Coco, I'm glad you enjoyed the read.

Jeffrey, quite the compliment there, bud.  TY

Amy, many things serve to inspire me - but mostly those things I cannot attain...LOL  Go figure?

serenity, you're so very welcome.

Brian, there's is something so unique about a light in the darkness.  Few ever do really "see" it.  I hope you do someday, though.

netswan, working on that even as we speak... shouldn't be too much longer I hope.  *crossing fingers*

Lizzie, a tingly emotion is worth a thousand words, no?  TY

Nan - yep, ya gotta give up them banker's hours and take up some vampire hours...LOL  I will be in touch soon...

PdV, I thank you so much for the praise you always bestow upon me.  But more than that you've always seen something in me that I like to forget is there at times... the "good" part.  You are a true friend.  Thank you for helping me remember myself.

Janet, class is "not" dismissed till someone brings me an apple!  Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Marge, you compliments mean much to me.. TY

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael

Michael,

As with PdV, I have a hard time finding new ways to praise your work. I hate to sound repetative, but this was superb Michael

If its an apple you wish for...
then an apple poem I will try.
An apple for the teacher...
whos perfect poems make me cry and sigh.
You poems are like lessons...
poetry's golden rules,
You show us how to do it...
and use all the poetic tools.
You are passions professor...
poetry 101,
and I know your hoping--
that this pitiful poem is almost done. (lol)
So heres my poetic apple for the teacher...
how is this for kissing up for a grade.
Your poems are the apple of my eye,
not a one would I ever trade...

NOW>>>>arent you sorry you asked LOL
later teach...

How perfect glows the budding rose,
In blooming freshly-born;
But 'neath the petal's soft perfume
Resides the bitter thorn ...

Indeed, my friend ... we must always be careful what we wish for ...

--Me

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

--William Shakespeare, from The Tempest

ahhh love, sweet, bittersweet, agonizing, heart rending...is it worth it?
yea even tho we shed tears of crimson and burn with unfettered passion love IS worth it all for that one soul mate that belongs to each of us..
good poem

Michael, this is exactly why you are one of my favorite poets, my friend.  The internal rhyme, the flow, the deep sting of pain filled love..it all appeals to me greatly.  A wonderous piece of work, as always.
