THE MOMENT

I walk the endless night,
Await the ageless dawn.
Dreaming in timeless flight
Of memory never spawn.

Of love in sweet caress,
Holding an angel's smile.
Painted in lavishness,
Soft white walking the aisle.

But a glimpsed perfection
Leaves me now lost in awe,
Outshines the reflection
In all I never saw.

How the moment lingers,
A tender agony.
Chance stripped from dead fingers,
A man I'll never be.

While nobody understands
This dream I can't let go.
A curse upon my hands
That no-one else could know.

This lifeless hope I cling to,
This carnage of the past.
One mere moment with you,
Forever in dream cast.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

Beautiful work, Micheal. Just how did this get passed up anyway?

'Twould I but fulfill
your every dream come true,
ne'er a better shadow
would I walk in with you.

Michael, Michael, it's time to wake up and come out to play with Sunshine...

M,
I have read this like 5 times and still cant breathe...
this is astonishingly beautiful.
God, I love the way you write...
so very few can ever touch this level
of emotion and honesty.
If one must indeed bleed...
then one should do it with such grace.
take care sweet poet,

This one hit the mark Michael. Well done.

As you know I can't reply without a few words of wisdom (be they good or bad...lol).
Holding on to what fills us, inspires us and completes us is not a bad thing. What we need to lat go of is the greif, pain and self condemation when things go wrong. Touch the sweetnes that was brought to you. Touch the completeness; leave the rest where it belongs.

As I said whether my words be inane or if they bare some truth; they are what I live by.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

You walk the endless night,
Where shadows fondly call
With promises so bright
Of peace, to mask the fall ...

The haunting dream endures;
Refusing, still, to die,
Pretense of hope obscures,
Deceives your cynic's eye.

Heed not the song of shades,
But guard thee well thy heart --
What God has fragile made,
Let no Love put apart!

Inspiring, Michael ... I have been here.  Thank you.

Kess, "Heed not the song of shades" - my God do I need to set them ghosts to rest... But oh how they howl and refuse to go away at times... Guess I should just call ghostbusters...LOL  TY for the beautiful poetic reply, dear.

Lone wolf, I am so glad you enjoyed this.

Coco & Kellsue, I am pleased to meet both of you.  Welcome to Passions.  I am so glad you both liked this poem so much... I will look for some of your works soon.

Claire, any compliment from you is a high compliment, indeed. TY

pandora, of all the people in this forum, I think you above all would know exactly what I meant in that line.  Peace to you.

Thank you all for the gracious comments.

Stark, strong verses, caught me up in tight-throated sorrow - like much of your work does, of late.  Very touching and much too real!
