One Moment

One moment here, an instant there at most,
And yet your loss looms larger than before.
Unpleasant shards of loneliness I host,
That pierce the very essence of my core.
Still than should we forgo such fleeting trysts,
That cause this ache of absence to revive?
How might we when this hunger still persists,
For sustenance on which our love survives.
If heartfelt pains must be the price I pay,
Then charge me with this debt until at last,
Your graceful presence glorifies each day,
And ends, but none too soon, our lovers’ fast.

Now bless me with the beauty of your voice,
And all too briefly let my soul rejoice.
