Letting Go

I watched you as you slept.
I dare not touch you.
For you were so peaceful
in your slumber.
I pressed my fingers
to my lips and I
blew you a kiss.
You stirred ever so slightly
I saw you smile
and i knew

It felt like an eternity
awaiting for you arrival.
You came and captured
a piece of my heart.
A piece that no other
well be able to hold.
It will always belong
to you and you alone.
No matter where you go
You will always be with me.

As I reminisce of
years that have past
I remember all-
I was there for you
whether it was happy
filled with laughter
or with sadness
I’d wiped your tears.
I was your everything
as you were to me.

Now the time has come
I must let you go.
For it is another
that you need.
I no longer can give
the things in life
you so desire.
But please remember
No matter what
I am here for you

If you ever find
You need a place
to rest your mind,
Just call out to me.
No matter your decision,
even if it’s wrong,
I will always
believe in you.
For you will always
have a place in my heart.

As I watch you
walking away,
I shed my tears.
They are of sorrow
fear,love, happiness.
It is your time to
find your place in life.
For You have grown
in to the person
I have raised.

I Love You
Mom

This is dedicated to my two children. They are now young adults. Living to explore their futures. May they be safe and have a fruitful journey.

You got to get up every morning with a smile on your face
and show the world all the love in your heart
Then people are gonna treat you better
You're gonna find, yes you will
That your beautiful as you feel.~~~ Carol King

Oh Kitkat - I feel the sorrow  and
the love -- I too, have an empty nest,
sigh.

Lovely poignant poem.

Oh Kitkat~
You have said a wonderful thing here with this piece. We mums unfortunately have to let go at some stage and watch our beautiful children grow into adults themselves and take responsebilities for themselves, so hard. I agree though that even so we are still here for them to lean on and to listen to them whenever they need that.
I thank you for posting this wonderful poem you have written and just want to say what a wonderful mum you are

Thank-you all for your replies. I have made copies and sent to my children. They both are very supportive of me when it comes to my poetry. Cutting them apron strings was a hard thing to do, as I know you know.

Lovely poem, dedicated to the most important person in the world, the person who decides are future and we take our morality and attitudes from . I haven't as yet had the pleasure of trying to leave home, but I can see how difficult it can be . Thanks for sharing it with every one .

With poetry as your weapon - express your iner feelings so all may carry your sorrow, united as one .
