And Then There Was Nan

The Miracle Worker can simply make magic
In one giant swoop by the slight of His hand
One day He decided to make a pure addict
Of poetry genius - And then there was Nan

She came to be born in a family of poets
A mother lode’s richness of words in her head
Vocabulary of colorful hues as she shows it
As varied as Netherlands’ vast tulip bed

He placed her among all the greens of New England
And sat back to witness the tones of her mind
The cranberry’s burgundy, smooth mottled yellow
Of small Dandelion were treasures He’d find

He placed in her mind magic vision and sound
Which she captures and sings in melodical words
The coo of the pigeon who struts on the ground
And the twittering music of northeastern birds

A sheet of white paper attracts her ink pen
As the sun draws the rose bud, and honey draws bee
The magnetic forces of aesthetic beauty
Draw into her verses the you and the me

He makes His own magic as best as He can
He waved The Poetic Wand -  then there was Nan

Thank you all very much. I've never known anyone with such a command of the English language. Yes, many times you do need a dictionary when you read Nan's poetry, at the same time, she writes in a way that is easily understood, and that is wonderful for common folks, such as I. The "mottled yellow" is from one of her poems, naturally.
(I would never have thought to describe a dandelion in mottled yellow.)
If you haven't yet gone there, visit her home page. You will enjoy.

Pepper, Thanks, dear for you lovely comments. Nan is so sweet, isn't she?

Lizzie, It very easy. See Nan's response.

Nan,
I'm glad you liked the poem. It's an expression I've been saying to myself when I read back over some poems I've written, and see so many things wrong, I say in my mind, "And then there was Nan"
As for your website, I have read your poetry over and over and never tired of it, and I suppose many do the same. So don't worry if there's nothing new.
Thank you for your sweet response
Liz

Alicat, You will have a great time. Enjoy!
and thank you for your kind response

Denise. She's got to get going now, since everyone who hasn't, is going to check out her website

Alicia, Thanks so much for your response

Nan, I know you write your poems by hand, probably one of few. That process would take me forever. We'll be checking your site in the future for anything new. I enjoyed it very Much

Thanks to wayoutwalt, I get a chance to see this...time is so precious and not enough of it to go around...

Elizabeth, you did a remarkable job here for our Nan...Our Nan...isn't that a great thought?  So giving of her talents, and so giving of your talents to spotlight her...[hey Ron...we need a SPOTLIGHT section of the month]

Not only is Nan full of the normal King's English...she is a maker of her own inimitable words...Naniness comes to mind..SilliNess... yet another...

Kudos to Elizabeth for a job well done - and standing ovations to Nan...
