     I Am

I am gentle and loving
I wonder what exciting adventures the future holds
I hear a symphony in my beloved wife's voice
I see a bright and shining tomorrow in my daughter's smile
I want to grow old, surrounded by my loved ones
I am gentle and loving

I pretend that there is a Woman in the Moon
I feel her embrace me, when I am sad
I touch her light, and my spirit is renewed
I worry that one day I will forget how to see her
I cry when she dimishes, and rejoice when she is full again
I am gentle and loving

I understand that friendship is priceless
I say my friends are all important parts of who I am
I dream of a world where we each see everyone as our friend
I try to share this vision with others
I hope that peace on earth will become a reality
I am gentle and loving

Excellent.   Challenges are eye opening sometimes.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

~Troy~

This is a perfect poem for the challenge!  Thanks for sharing this.  The lines "I hear a symphony in my beloved wife's voice and "I see a bright and shining tomorrow in my daughter's smile" are beautiful.

You are also a talented poet!

Take care,

Troy, I think this is the first of the "I Am" poems I've read (haven't had much time of late) but my goodness what a lovely gifting this is! Your description of who you are is So nice...and I love your woman in the moon image...thank you for sharing this glimpse into "you."

Troy,
How is it that you continue to come up with such quality? This was very soft, sweet and honest. I enjoyed it. Talk to you soon.
