Mother, Why?

I'm locked up in this broken box of shame
I turn to you, my mother, the one I blame.

You make me feel lonely and left out
I thought being a mother was what love was about.

So many times I hear your deadened cries,
but then when I confront you, all I hear is lies.

You leave me and my siblings alone for days
this year has been stressful, and shadowed by a haze.

I know you say it's your life to live now,
but I watch you crumble, and I wonder how!?

Eyes full of fire and strength you used to own,
but now your full of nothings, and nothing is what you've shown.

Now I am leaving, I've stopped begging on my knees,
so please someone send me your "mother application" please.

grabs 4 boxes of tissues MELISSA!!??  You express yourself so much more in your poetry, sometimes I wish you would talk to me while writing...I never knew some of this stuff reflected this much in your life.  I knew your mother was having problems but...I just will keep you in my prayer honey.

I know I'm not as open with you as I should be considering your like a sister to me, but I just like to keep things inside, deal with them myself.

Sad.  Sad.  Well written.  Makes me wonder about both sides of the issue.  Is she desperately grasping for a love of her own?  Where does that leave you?  Great pain and emotion in this one.  I'm very sorry, if it's your own story.

This must be so painful for you....I am sorry. You express the pain very beautifully in this poem.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Rosemary~
The other side of this story is my mother has love in us but she never seems to grasp it...she's too into "other" things!
I must admit I feel like I am holding this family together at times...but God never puts on more than we can bare, right?

Oh, I am truly so very sorry.  It's good to see you have a faith to help you carry on.  I do believe it's true, that God doesn't give His loved ones more than they can handle.  But He does allow such sorrow in this world.  And I am very sorry for yours.

This is a very honest, heartfelt cry from the heart. Your inner strength shines in this also, I believe. The pain of life does make us stronger. Sometimes we surprise ourselves when we realize how much it has accomplished in our lives. God uses the pain in our lives to make us empathetic and sympathetic to the pain of others. And ya know what? Someday you will be a fantastic mother yourself!

Blondie, this is sad and wistful.
So many kinds of mothers out there
So many never meet their own childrens'
expectations.

I know my mom could never live up to
what I perceived a mother to be. But,
I love her just the same.

Hugs to you

Dsnyder~
A good mother eh?  I don't know about that one, I am not the greatest daughter now...a lot of problems I haven't faced.

Netswan~
It's not that I expect a lot out of my mother, maybe a hug here and there and for her to be there for us when we need her.  I mean she can go out, that's fine, it's her life BUT she is a part of ours so she needs to come at night. Don't you agree?
