        The art of shadows

Each shadow writes like pen and quill,
Through my window upon my sill.
They creep across my summers bed
And steep my head with fancy wed.

They break up into gourmet thoughts.
Of all the wonders day had wrought.
The bend of trees the dance of leaves,
Birds in flight and the search of bees.

They spin for me an endless tale.
Of land and sea and ships that sail.
Of mountains reaching to the sky.
Of clouds that form and catch the eye.

They speak of anguish, love and hate,
Of things of quick and things of late.
They mimic me the passing day,
They sing to me and dance ballet.

They paint for me in shadows art,
The bright of things that fill my heart.

Seymour, this is beautiful, through and through...the art, indeed, of shadows. Your poem makes me think in ways I didn't know I could think.

I know I've said this before, but what you can do with the parts of speech~

Sy, I too am entranced by shadowplay.  This is a wonderful depiction of shadow and feeling.

What an amazing piece of poetry. Your words dance ballet in the shadows, floating across the page as only you can make them do. Artistry of words at it's finest.

This is lovely, and beautifully written.  Seems we've both been entranced by shadows lately!  There's just something about their mystery, and seeming life.  The way they move.  Well, you wrote it excellently.

Well, Seymour~
This one almost got lost
in the shadows ....
Whew !  I found it with my trusty
EverReady flashlight.

Delightful read.
I, like you, enjoy the shadows ... mine and others.

Back to the top with this charmer.

I love waterfalls, but with this piece I felt and saw a "shadowfall" and I loved it.
