Listening to every heart

It Rippled Today

Did you feel it?  Ever so tentative,
less than a breath, a trigger
of action occurring in a touch
of finger's skin to temple
~ a catch of thought ~
so it has again begun.

It is moving closer although
it will have no final destination.

There can be no action without
a reaction, and nothing ever
comes to a complete stop.

Because there was a ripple today.

God, I pray
that I will be aware
of the nuances this very slight movement
will provide
~ a flash of color ~
~a scent so silently pervasive ~
and that I will know that
it touched me.

Like McKuen's "Stanyon Street"
the symbolism of the words alone
evade memories of things long gone,
but never forgotten.

I was not listening when that
ripple of yesterday passed, I had only
felt the breath of a decision
and that path then taken
lies in some wooded dream
of long ago.
Done rippled along in other directions.
Outcomes which someday
may ripple back to me.

Consider it never too late
to make life changing decisions,
as they only come to you
on ripples of conscience,
and do with it all the good
that you can.

Sunshine,

Don't you ever go to sleep..? This is very moving and I pray everythings alright, you know you can drop us a line any 'ol time, I'll send a prayer up every time to help things turn out right. Even if we're all asleep DAD'S always awake. But we're here for you, give us a gingle, you know the #

All our best Sunny, God Bless. Lucky

If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. (Michelle A. Bartley)

No, Lucky - if I cannot sleep, than I would rather write - but you are sounding like my husband...

nothing is wrong - only commenting on how ripples of life affect us all...even when we don't know it.  Just being everyone's conscience...like an angel on your shoulder. Thanks for coming in to read.  Now, get back to bed!< !signature-->

Thanks for the reminder, Sunshine, that everything we do, whether we realize it or not, does indeed impact others and ourselves. Great writing!

From one sunny dishwater blonde [from a bottle to hide the gray] to another - LOL!  Perhaps I should do all of my writing in the a.m. - this one keeps flipping back up to the top!  Thanks PFF, I'm so glad you caught the meaning...now, go do something with your ripples...

Sunshine,
You posed the question and gave the answer.
I can only say your poem was a delight. *L*
