DAYDREAMER

Often I wonder
Wandering day by day...
In life torn asunder,
Just where I lost my way.
Was it clouds in the distance
That obscured my view?
Did I offer resistance,
Or just give in on cue?
A star ever falling,
I yet sing my song.
Emptiness the calling
Echoes everlong.

By eyes of the raven,
Agleam in the dark.
By ev'ry dream craven,
Been branded this mark.
I yet hold a vision
Tired eyes won't release.
Forestall indecision
In the mere hope of peace.
And there walk amongst you,
To dare lift this stone.
Steadfast, all held true,
Walk away - alone.

Wondering often
What words never say.
Why stone hearts ne'er soften
Why I dream life away.
Why tears ne'er befall
Eyes longing to cry.
Why grown men yet crawl
As passion seems to die.
Why the love never lasts
Past this image we save.
A dream the mind casts
From cradle to grave.

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

Sometimes life seems easier when you dream it away, only when you finally wake up do you notice how painful life is... Excellent work as always Michael.

Sometimes seems as if love is nothing but a dream or an illusion. This is what I felt from your poem. The wish to hold on to love, but the feeling that we are unable to ever do that. And so we must merely have our dreams of it.

I know about this wandering, Michael, my friend. Far too well, to my way of thinking. You turn the phrase exceptionally.

Micheal,
I am in awe yet again. You have a marvelous talent for giving your poems legs. This really moves, and moves, and keeps moving.

WOW!!

Superb! Are we all meant to love? Who will write these hauntingly beautiful poems then? I believe there is a season for each of us... your harvest is coming, I feel it...reap the love when it comes to you.

Michael,

I was just sitting here listening to "Pink Floyd's" Comfortably Numb and reading your piece. Very nice, and too, the music sure caught the mood. I know so many friends wandering... just don't you wander off... Nice work up late.

Michael~
This is quite pretty in a dark and
brooding sort of way.
Between the lines I read questions of
insecurity  and doubt ...

'Why tears ne'er befall
Eyes longing to cry.
Why grown men yet crawl
As passion seems to die.
Why the love never lasts
Past this image we save.
A dream the mind casts
From cradle to grave.'

Powerfully longing to be understood ...
or perhaps just to understand.

Mistik, here's to never awakening...

Janet, not stone? - just don't tell anyone, o.k.

Tess, indeed, could only love the dream...

Lone wolf, been quite the road, that's for sure.  Glad you enjoyed.

Claire, we've wandered similiar paths - that's for sure...

Jeffrey, LOL - never heard it put like that before... but I do believe a muse if ignored will "move" to the next poet in line, so it all makes sense to me...

PdV, oh the woe you bring to hope...LOL  Am I destined to write sad songs forever?    Let's hope there is "a season" for all.

Lucky, I won't disappear on ya all... though a little too much Floyd and I may as well... talk about inspiration unto the obscure.  Gotta love old man Waters!!!

Marge, you pick up on much, that's for sure.  Much longing - much brooding.  Hey, it's me after all...

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael

Cerenity,

Ah, you snuck in on me.  Thank you dear.  I am only saddened you would understand how this feels

Here's to a better tomorrow for both of us...
