After reading the post in The Alley, I thought a happier poem would be a good idea, so to WhtDove, everyone else who posted a reply to her topic in The Alley, to all who have children, and to everyone else as well...Here is a happier poem, and remember...set a good example!

A little child is a pleasure
that money cannot buy
his face reveals his trust in you
his love gleams from his eyes

He follows your example
be careful what you do
he deserves a chance in life
and depends a lot on you

He follows where you lead him
not where you say to go
make sure your steps are firmly placed
and that your pace is slow

Do all you can to guide him
and help him to grow strong
and if he follows in your steps
don't lead him in the wrong

Pooh,

I am purely amazed by your poem.
So few words speaking so many.

Oh such wonderful comments.  Thank you dearly.  I wrote this poem to my husband about our son.  That, however, is a LONG story, that I might write into a poem one day, but don't think I should go into at the moment    Thank you once again for you wonderful comments, they are greatly appreciated

Pooh~
Wonderful poem and very well said, they are the most precious things on earth and need to be loved and cared for always

Love is a childs embace
The loving smile upon their face

Everything they touch and do
The excitement of something new

They light up a room with one small grin
Everyone's hearts they soon win

Precious little angels that sparkle and deilight
Fill our hearts with joy and make our world bright

There is no other love greater than this
No greater love than your childs goodnight kiss

Under the covers they tenderly lay
To keep them safe is what we pray

Dear Pooh~
I Hope you like this
Tracie~

Pooh~
A lovely, tender poem.
Children are the hope of our world and we are the tenders of their life.
