I am a man
But not just an ordinary man, I am the bringer of Romance and the defender of truth and the weak
I wonder why
Why in a world where we can send people into space and clone sheep are there still lonely people
I hear melodies
Not only the melodies of music and sound, but also the melodies of life and of the heart
I see the heart
And I know the heart, I know its whys and its hows and I know its sorrows. . . and its joys
I want to know
To know the secrets of life, I want to know destiny and fate, and everything in between
I am a man

I pretend a lot
In my imagination I've been many things, poet, painter, knight, but they can't compare to real life
I feel much
I feel the power of the universe and the cries of those who hurt, they only yearn for love
I touch the sky
And the moon and the stars obey my commands, the wind carries my voice and the
thunder and lightning sing my love
I worry too much
I worry about things that I can't control and I let them get to me, but I'm working on it
I cry over silly things
I cry every time Charlie Brown discovers Christmas, I cried when Jack gave his life for Rose. . .
and I cried when my Dad died. . .
I am a man

I understand some things
I understand that nothing is impossible, I understand my place in the world,
     but I don't understand life
I say to you
That I have much to say, that I could talk your ear off and still want to listen to you
I dream in color
The colors of the world, the colors of life, the colors of love, the colors of the universe
I try to be better
I have a lot to work on, I can be short, abrupt and angry at times, but I'm always improving
I hope for us
A hope that one day, all of us will be happy and free and that we will all know love

I am a man
     But so much more. . .a catalyst. . . an agent. . . a friend. . . this is me. . .

Sven, this is a wonderful description of yourself... great job.

PS- I cried when Charlie Brown discovered Christmas, too.

What a wonderful and in depth poem Sven! It tells us so much about you! I didnt look at any one else's "I am" poems before writing mine, and have seen a few now and think maybe that I havent fulfilled the challenge as well as some of you, but oh well, all of us are different I guess! I enjoyed reading this   Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
