THE MIDDLE OF NOTHING

In the middle
of carrying in a pile of junk mail
or sorting all my clean socks.

In the middle
of eating a drippy egg sandwich
or sipping on a glass of Merlot.

In the middle
of filling a tub with bubbles
or stopping in rush hour traffic.

In the middle
of nothing in particular
They come uninvited.

Out of nowhere
the tears begin with a choke
and flow down my sad cheeks.

From far away
they’ve traveled many years
and I’m as tired as they are.

From deep inside
I recognize the need
to let the sorrow breathe.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the responses I've received within minutes of posting this poem.  I've posted some of my poems and have responded to other people's poetry on other poetry web sites.  But, it has always seemed like you needed to be a part of some 'group' to have anyone actually take a minute to say something about your work.

Thank you for making me feel so welcome.  It almost feels like home.

DiObear~
This is just heartbreakingly beautiful.
Now dry those tears and write us another
one just as lovely.
Welcome to Passion's family of friends.

Corazon --- thanks for your words.

jkm --- You're right.  You do need to let the tears flow.  It took me years to learn that and when I did, it seemed like they came out of nowhere.  That's where the poem came from.  Now I just let the tears drop as soon as they need to.

This poem shakes me by the roots, leaving me a bare root tree high and dry in the back of the lot.  You speak the truth, and I know all about those tears.  Excellently written.

Excellent first post DiObear,
Welcome to passions,

regards,
sudhir.

Take each day as it comes,
Consider each day as a flight,
Try hard to succeed and fly,
Surely then you will reach some height.

But if by some chance you don’t,
Remember that tomorrow will always come.
Learn this well and learn this hard
That today’s efforts will pay for tomorrow’s fun.

Tear of healing, come and go, and I know the flow: they say the pain will go.  You wrote a touching poem.

You express the feelings so well and yes they do come out of nowhere don't they? A smell a sound a touch....brings it all back without warning.  I look forward to reading more, welcome to passions!! You made an outstanding entrance.

 Hold me for yesterday
Kiss me for tomorrow
But love me for today.

Thanks to all for your encouraging and thoughtful words.  With wonderful people like you in the world, I think those tears will be more a thing of the past.

With much gratitude,
