I am a poet hidden behind the jester
I wonder if I’ve lived before
I hear the sound of a heart hurting
I see colors of a person’s soul instead of colors of a person’s skin
I want to be able to write whenever I want
I am a poet hidden behind the jester

I pretend that hurtful words don’t hurt me
I feel as though I am an alien in this world
I touch God’s sigh in the wind
I worry that humanity will self-destruct
I cry because people are so cruel sometimes
I am a poet hidden behind the jester

I understand that it is my fate to be this way
I say everything in life happens for a reason, there is a plan
I dream of a world where we are all brothers and sisters
I try to be kind to everyone, to even the meanest spirit
I hope I am worthy enough to go to heaven
I am a poet hidden behind the jester

Oh Sharon, this is perfect!!! How do you know so exactly how I feel anyway?(jokes-but I think we share similar feelings on quite a few topics!) I really like this poem, thank you for sharing it! Great answer to the challenge!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

PDV, this is a beautiful work... we have a lot of the same beliefs, but I guess that's the purpose of the challenge, to get to know each other a little better.

~PD~

Getting to know you has been a pleasure! You definitely are a rare gem my friend with a loving soul. It is apparent to me through your writing that you have a gentle heart. Don't worry when your time comes the good Lord will securely wrap his arms around you and carry you to his kingdom of heaven.

Take care,
Amy

Hi Miss Poet deVine,

You are a spirit I am glad I have had the chance to meet and I admire your talent as a poet, you have given me courage when I needed it and I thank you for that. I love the line: I see colors of a person's soul instead of colors of a person's skin and I too hear Gods sigh in the wind.

Wonderful writing,  Cerenity

Sharon, I know how much trouble you went through to write this, and I really hope you are satisfied with the results...beautiful insight into a beautiful person.  Jester you may be, and one I am proud to call a friend.

Sharon I'm not sure what to say! You and I are so much alike in these things. I feel as I was reading about myself.

Sharon, this is about as perfect of a description of you as I can imagine. You are more than worthy.....of heaven and heaven on earth. It's a pleasure to be your friend.

your sensitivity and thoughtfulness shine through in this poem...
like the lines:
I see colors of a person's soul instead of colors of a person's skin
I say everything in life happens for a reason, there is a plan
I dream of a world where we are all brothers and sisters

these are "universal" lines which everyone can relate to
thanx for the read
