State of constant confusion!

0 posted 2000-04-30 01:03 AM

You knew I loved you
yet you broke my heart
You knew how much you meant to me
why'd you tear my world apart

I would've given you anything
if you had only asked
But you left me here with nothing
wearing this fool's mask

The least you could've done
was take your memory when you left
Then I wouldn't be sitting here
lonely, all by myself

I can't even begin to imagine
why you felt you had to go
All I know is the fact
that I am here alone

Without you the sun in my day,
and now even that has gone away
Love can be strange sometimes,
it can make you happy, and it always makes you blind

The good things we see
the bad things we tend to deny
If only two people could love each other
without ever saying good-bye

Jeffery,

This is such a sad poem.  But, I have to say I enjoyed it because I appreciate reading  real emotions.  Not all poems can be happy ones, can they?

Jeffrey...I may be a sentimental fool but I don't believe love ever ends in goodbye. True love always lives on in the heart and what is goodbye anyway? Just because two people can not live together or be with one another daily or even on a regular basis, that doesn't mean goodbye. Acceptence of what is meant to be and the willingness to love unconditionally, that is the key.

Yeah, yeah, she is a hopeless romantic...lol.

Jeffrey,

I love this one.  And oh how I relate.  I, too, wish there did not have to be good-byes.  Sometimes though, it is the only way.  Great writing!!

You've brought tears to my eyes...this is amazing.

 Hold me for yesterday
Kiss me for tomorrow
But love me for today.

Hey guys, I just realized this fits perfectly with another poem I wrote.

You knew I loved you
yet you broke my heart
You knew how much you meant to me
why'd you tear my world apart
I would've given you anything
if you had only asked
But you left me here with nothing
wearing this fool's mask

The least you could've done
was take your memory when you left
Then I wouldn't be sitting here
lonely, all by myself

I can't even begin to imagine
why you felt you had to go
All I know is the fact
that I am here alone

Without you the sun in my day,
and now even that has gone away
Love can be strange sometimes,
it can make you happy, and it always makes you blind

The good things we see
the bad things we tend to deny
If only two people could love each other
without ever saying good-bye

If only love wasn't so demanding
If only we were more understanding
If only time could heal a broken home

If only hearts didn't get broken
If only you didn't have to go
If only I didn't have to be alone

In another time and another place
maybe we could've shared a life together
But who's to say that even then
it would've lasted forever
Maybe like fire and water
it was never meant to be
Even though we all sometimes
get the urge to see
Life has always been
one question after another
Maybe if we just keep asking
we will one day discover....IF ONLY

Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond to this little piece of my heart.
I am truly grateful.

All my love,
Jeffrey

You know, men so seldom show their pain when someone leaves them...I've often wondered what goes through a man's mind.  You have shared and portrayed the pain very well here.  Makes me wish I would have done a few things differently in my past...My favorite part is..."take your memory with you when you go"....or however you said that!  Wow, now that had PUNCH!

"IF ONLY" - what a pair of words those are!  Two wonderful poems here!  I think regret must be one of the most powerful and destructive emotions on earth.
These are wonderful poems - both - and say so much.  You write of lost love in such depth, and such sorrow.  Thank you for sharing.
