Just an Ordinary Day

One day I looked up,
it hadn't been any sort
of special day, just a normal
day.  A day when babies were
born world wide, and death
sought out those to die,

A day when strangers were married
somewhere, a day where some war
had more than likely began.
A child's pain, a woman's tear,
a man's pride to do or die
Just an ordinary day.

As I looked up the sun was
high, my hand covered the brightness
from my eyes, and there in the shadow
I saw him - a slight glow of anticipation
filled my heart, for in my mind, I knew
I knew him.

No, I had never really seen him before,
but I knew he was the one I had been
waiting for.  His smile when it came
brought out the clarity of the day,
no it was not just a normal day

No day is an ordinary day, but it took
a moment in time, in the glaring sunshine
to open my eyes wide -  to find that
everyday is a special day for someone
somewhere far and wide

Very nice, Teresa! I enjoyed being brought into your world and see this day through your eyes... and indeed... you are right... all days are special. Thank you for sharing this.
