I hear the distant rumble,
And send up a silent prayer,
Lord please keep them safe tonight,
As again they head down there.
The windows rattle in the house,
As the engine they rev once more,
Smoke is billowing from the garage,
When they open up the door.
I watch them as they load the truck,
Excitement bubbling out,
The car now on the trailer,
It's Saturday, no doubt.
My husband and my two "little" boys,
Head down to that darn strip,
They say that they are "bonding,"
I say it's an ego trip!
All I ask is they're careful,
And come safely home tonight,
The only worry that they have,
Is not jumping the track's red light.
Lord, another Saturday morning,
And I'm asking once again,
Please send and angel with them,
In case the tires spin.
I've asked them to go slower,
Than the angel You send can fly,
A look of confusion crosses each face,
As in unison, they ask "why."
Off they go and here I'm left,
Just another drag racing Mom,
While they go down and try to beat,
Every Harry, Dick and Tom!!!

I don't have any sons but I can empathize with your worry, as a Mom. This is great!
