"Oh, if I was only younger,"
Exclaimed my best friend's wife,
"Time just seems to pass too soon,
I need some magic in my life."

"Read a Harry Potter book,"
I said, "It's sure to do the trick.
"Harry is a wizard, you see,
But he isn't aware of it."

When mean Uncle Dursley gave Harry a stare,
He decided to unkindly cut poor Harry's hair,
But then a strange thing did happen.
In the morning, the hair had grown back again.

When some mean boys wanted to punish Harry
for making a small goof
They looked around but couldn't find him!
Harry had floated up to the roof!

And owls arrive at Harry's house,
That's not strange, you might say.
But owls that fly during the day?
Huh? Well, wizards get their mail that way!

So Harry goes to Hogwarts,
A sort of wizard and witches academy,
He meets a giant named Hagrid
And two friends, Ron and Hermione.

Harry learns about "muggles",
(Normal people who can't believe)
and one sorcerer who can't be named
Who is Harry's secret sworn enemy!

Oh, if I were only younger
I heard say from my best friend's wife
But I say, thank you Harry Potter
For bringing magic back into my life!

(The Harry Potter books are written by J.K. Rowling and are available everywhere. Start with the first book, The Sorcerer's Stone.)

The magic of childhood can be had at any age, can't it? It is really just a state of mind and heart that we can access at any time. I loved this poem, Bob. It's charming.
