Sitting in a mud hole
watching my life flash before my eyes.
There's dirt in my mouth, blood stains my face.
I watch the horizon.
I no longer remember right from wrong,
I have played their game too many times.
From this hole I've seen the world,
and the meaning of life or death.
To stay alive is all that I ask,
and to get the hell out of this hole.
So many friends at home, I hope to see them,
it's so so damn long.
I wonder now and then, what their doing,
if they know I'm here
if they know I'm alive.
But their so far away,
and here I am,
stuck fighting for reasons I don't understand.
Shooting at anything that moves,
following my orders to the T.
I'm too scared to breath,
I duck in fear. I wish I could hide.
I want my mommy.
I watch others run into the forefront,
darting across the fields, only
to be mowed down. (horrible killing fields)
Raining drops of led
straight through their hearts
pericing their soul.
(Napom morning)
Giving their life for people
that they don't know.
I wonder what the other side sees in our eyes,
is it FEAR?
is it HATE?
or is it SURPRISE?
Then suddenly I'm awaken from my day dreams.
There is a burning pain in my chest,
it's like a fire out of control.
There is blood everywere.
I'm soaking wet. Blackness.
Yes, I guess it is true,
I getting out of this hole.
Memory fades to nothing.

I awake at home. YES! It is my home!
But all I can do is watch the war
lying in my bed.
Bruesed and broken,
wet with cold sweats,
I watch them losing ground.
The only one left I watch as my friends,
die for the cause.

of course -------

Touching --

very powerful imagery here...very...
and the emotions expressed are painfully real.
excellent writing.
take care, jm

Is it too much to find an answer,
Is it too much to hold you close.
Is it too much to find a reason,
Is it too much to free my soul --
From self control ...
And I know you're always waiting for me ...
You take me far away,
And I know you're holding me ...
And it's better now ...

Effigy~
So touching is your piece that it brings a tear of remembering to my cheek.

So many young men and women who must have cried over and over 'I want my mommy'
So sad ..
And those fighting on the 'other side'
must have been feeling it too.
We can cry for all of them ... and ourselves.

You more than met the challenge with this.
