Author's Note:  This is one of several poems I have written, involving long-distance romance.  Any of you who have been there know that it's a "tough row to hoe," but it's not all bad!  This poem is about the "upside" of long-distance romance:  really fires the anticipation and the imagination, and gets the creative juices flowing!

          If

If I could be a sparrow,
And could fly up in the blue,
I'd write your name across the sky -
Then, wing my way to you.

If I could be a wizard,
And could ride upon a star,
I'd bid it, with the speed of light,
To take me where you are.

And, if, one day, my fondest dream
Should suddenly come true,
You'd find me nestled in your arms -
Forever loving you.

this poem is a short reminder of my relationship a couple months ago.  But i have been convinced that long distance relationships aren't the answer.  I loved it and thank you for posting such a short and sweet peom.

you think very highly of yoursefl, i can tell quite easily.  why the copyrights?  you can trust us.  and personally, i don't like to read copyrighted poetry in a forum like this one.  it is kind of ummm...egotistical, you know?  anyway, great piece, man.

Troy*
I really enjoyed this point of view...from being burned by long distance love it's easy to forget the good things about it

Brandon....All the poems are copyrighted...take a look at the bottom of one of yours.

Having never been in a long distance relationship, I don't know how I'd feel but I suspect it would be just like this.

This is lovely -Troy -- Short sweet,
and dear ---

BRANDON - in case you come back in here.
I am getting rather sore at you.  - I jumped
on you already - and I will do it again.
Troy is just a wonderful - wonderful man,
and a very dear friend -- whose confidence
needs some boosting --

And, no, you don't copyright your work
because someone might steal it. You copyright
your work because PEOPLE DO STEAL IT.

Hugs to you Troy

I've been in a long distance relationship (Minnesota to Switzerland) for almost a year.  This poem is wonderful and I think I'll send it to him.  Thanks for writing it.

Troy~
Damn, I think HIGHLY of this poem
AND the man that wrote it ! !

This is just a precious piece, Troy.
I think it can apply to anyone in
a relationship ... shucks, that little
bird can just fly down the block and
sing to me anytime.
