author's note: author takes no meaning of this and is a standerby and a durned good guy

Falling asleep in a swing back spindly old chair
No light penetrating my wispy unkempt long hair
How long has it been since I bathed or even shaved
My wife threatening to leave me but that I forgave

I’ll spend hours in this chair I’ll sing to it I guess
Cuz no one wants to hear my Janis Joplin duets
Conservatism is bleak with banner held high
I’m free with my love but my wife knows I’m shy

Someone told me that they were getting real sleepy
Durned those right-wingers trying to rub off on me
I’ll sit here in this swing back spindly old chair
Refuse to fall asleep; there’s Republicans out there

There’s Noah and his Arky they came along two by two
Why can’t my wife and I get along like they do?
There’s a peace rally in the sky someday we’ll both die
But right now the spindles are cutting into my thighs

Durned old chair it creaks as I softly whimper a tune
Mixed in a few others I’ll be slobbering real soon
Bud is my buddy and hair pins my good friends
They pinch me in places if dreams soon descend

So please you don’t tell my wife that I am sleepy
I might always be wrong but in this I need be
Righter than a right-winger who loves Debra Winger
And thinks that John Tesh is a hack of a singer

I woke up in the morning my head was still spinning
Spill the Wine on the turn style my wife wasn’t grinning
You might all say that sleeping is sure a good thing
But now in this big house I’m confined to the right wing

Mopping the spillage and watching Grizzly Adams
Thinking bout the lost boys died fighting ole Saddam
I wave my banner high as my own kids hiss at me
God Bless America where at least I know I’m free

You might say that I stink and I sing like a cow
And that you’re a liberal I’ve defamed you some how
But I’m just a lover, daddy, and poet by trade
And you’re just a chair in Red China you were made

Well now...
Ahem...
I uh....

Wow!

LOL walt...actually, this is a strange, (understatement) poem, BUT, you've also amnaged to lay down some fine groundwork morals here... I read a lot into this that you may or may not have intentioned. Either way, it tickles my tummy, but sits well with me!

Walt, Can I go to sleep now?...LOL Honestly I love this, it shines with your talent as a poet. As for that chair I think it's time to get a new one before it swallows you whole...LOL

Walt I see someone who is hurt. I see the chair, does it sit at your puter?

Bud I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye, the ark and all, are we speaking of the forums here?
